What is a Chartered Surveyor Job?

Surveyor is a person who exercises a profession of surveying or plotting a land or any other related thing related to it. Surveyors are considered professionals on this field because they have mastered land's shape and sizes, its contour together with its properties on their studies. A chartered surveyor can also help evaluate and give assessment and provides advice or consultations for design and renovations to be made on the structure. Plus, they look to whatever environmentally-related issues that can hinder the construction as well as the natural surroundings.

In the residential property setting, surveyors are sent by the loan company to evaluate or assess the property for the loan, if the properties worth is devalued or not. Homeowners and property buyers seeking advices and consultations with regards to the property can also be rewarded by their services too. Sometimes, a chartered surveyor plays the job of overseeing whether the ongoing construction affects the neighboring setting or not. It is also a part of the surveyor's job to investigate dispute on the side of the contractor and the homeowner when it comes to the materials and costs of the construction.

Another task of a chartered surveyor is to calculate the energy efficiency of a building or property. They place recommendations and evaluations on how the property can be more energy efficient and if the electrical properties or materials of the building are needed to be renovated or changed. Surveyors can also check whether the building complies with the set guidelines, rules and codes of the government.

In the commercial phase, stores and other business establishment are examined yearly by them if they meet all the standard rules and guideline laid down by the government. All public structures such as dormitories, schools and apartments prior to permit issuance are properties known to undergo annual inspection through them. In case surveyors noticed damages brought by natural catastrophe and the like in the properties, they have the power to recommend restoration or a certain structural repair of the property.

Being a surveyor requires possessing good observation skills, diligence and forward planning to offer the best advice and consultation to property buyers and owners. Remember, the job of a chartered surveyor isn't only confined to just one specific task like overseeing the building construction but also submits his self to look over for the safety of the people around it. Remember, the engineers and architects aren't only the important people in the team, but these people are too; so guarantee safety for them too.
